Great advice Bangs! I’ve always stuck with a mid-heel because I’m 5ft 10 but your suggestion to not fear the extra height is spot on. That’s what I need to get over if I’m to walk in all the gorgeous high heels I see. Hey, if everyone stares at the giant tall woman when she walks in the room, then so be it. Especially if my shoes are foiiiine.

You mentioned scoring the bottom of the shoe with a knife to stop them slipping, but you can also rub them with a cheese grater.
When I get new ones I wear them around the house to do the cleaning in, ah the glamour 
All good tips, especially about scoring the soles! The day I learned that you need to take smaller steps when you’re wearing heels was a true revelation! And you’re right (of course) that the most important thing about wearing heels is that they make you feel all glamorous and ladylike. I have shoes which make me feel positivley invincible I wonder what the male equivalent is?

When I was a young girl, many years ago, I longed to be like the ladies I saw running to the station in high heels and tight pencil skirts, with their legs sticking out from the knees. I practised and practised and I am afraid I still run like that, even in wellies!
Ah yes, I’ve heard of the cheese grater method as well!
Great post, now if only I could find a pair of said heels that fit (shoe shopping with such tiny feet is a nightmare…)!
