in a word, “AWESOME!” yours is the blog that keeps on giving, and i only just discovered you today. i could spend hours on your blog which means that i would never write my blog. sigh. all this to say that you are “BANG on!” love your POV, love how you see the world and tell it like it is. yes, we could all go and read mainstream mags for a truly navel-gazing experience, but who does that serve, and how does that help any of us get anywhere constructive. i’ve perused a few posts including your “talk to me bitches” entries, and i want to comment on it all! in due time i suppose. just know that for now, i am a FAN! woohoo! cheers, and continued success… xobolaji

I’m sorry, I really think all this fanfare for a punk-ass anonymous person is just a bit much. I mean, a woman hater, you aren’t, we know that and you do, too.
I mean, really, lots of times, situations are agitated by whoever is doing the most yapping. I don’t advocate domestic violence of any kind. My brothers were taught to keep their hands off women at all costs because they are men.
But my sister and I were taught that if you jump up in a man’s face hitting him and egging him on like a man, be prepared to fight like one.
I mean, call it what you will, but men have every right to defend themselves.
As for everything else, Anon or whomever you’re calling yourself, get a damn grip. Embrace the hilarity that is Bangs and a Bun or step the fuck off.

I applaud you for taking the high road in your response to the mysterious comment ghost. I do believe it’s time for women to start taking a look in the mirror at what made the generations of women before us Lady like. In this effort to be equal we’ve lost a sense of self, we need regain that balance.

Any one who regularly reads this would know better, so I am willing to bet who ever said that comment was either a first time or very recent reader. I come from a household of domestic abuse (I was never hit personally, but Mum was and luckily she got herself, my sister and I out of there eventually), and after that we had to live in a womens shelter until we found a place and heard many stories from the women who lived there with us, so needless to say Domestic Violence is a matter very close to my heart. And while I was reading that post yesterday I never once got the impression that a) you were a woman hater and b) that some how you were commending DV. I completely agreed with what you posted yesterday, some women act ridiculously, and think they can get away with it because they are “untouchable”.
You did an excellent job at replying to the commenter, and handled it with 10x more class then some would.

You can tell that anonymous commented to kiss every inch of your a$$! First of all, he/she whoever it is needs to understand that sometimes as a woman you need to give a man the respect he deserves. I read your entry about domestic violence and as mainstream as it is it isn’t always one-sided. Men are abused to and it should be dealt with! I totally get that! Men aren’t always the bad guys yet society has painted them as such (even their own don’t help the situation – Enter: hip hop music). I’m digressing. It is your damn blog and you are allowed to say whatever the hell you wanna say. I hate when folks come up in your joint and play moderator. That is what their blog is for. Don’t be bum rushin somebody elses spot being disrepectful and talkin mess. Bangs honey, do I need to break out the baby powder?! Just let me know!
