SMARTY – Wow, I never knew that. Inneresting. And isn’t that the best thing about being a non-drinker? Holding the proof for when you need it?

JADED – That sounds like a good new year’s right there – take out & movies. Awesomeness.

JENNIE – That sounds like a good time – and Halifax always puts on a good fireworks display!

MOCK – I’m with ya my friend. I much prefer a quiet night in with the family. Far less hassle and way more fun!

NICOLE – You’re right, with the right combination of people and places, it can be enjoyable. I agree that house parties can definitely be the most fun.

I hate NYE… always have. I’m looking forward to a bottle of wine, some chinese take-out, movies,a promise to love myself and to continue living my life for me (slightly cheesy… but what better way to spend NYE when your single?) Let’s be honest, there will another NYE next year.

New Years Eve usually for me is just family getting together. It’s actually a lot of fun, it’s like the club, though the closest we get to any of the nonsense mentioned in this post is the occasional drunk uncle.

-uh, the video of this is totally worth the price of admission. LOL!

I have enjoyed some NYE. I don’t get out much so a really good party is something I look forward too. However, having a baby stifles that a bit. I will probably just be drunk at home. VERY DRUNK! LOL!

I hope I don’t end up jinxing myself for this year but my last several NYEs have gone quite well. I think the key is learning from past mistakes and sticking to what works.

- I only had to experience NYE outside once in my life to know I never wanted to do it again. Though, having lived in Canada my entire life I’m not sure why I thought it would be a good idea in the first place. Winter is cold, helloooo!
- House parties are usually the best option but you can’t rely on the fact that every year you’ll have a friend generous/foolish enough to open their home to a bunch of drunk revelers.
- Club events can actually be great (the one I went to last year was a blast) as long you can be sure of a few things ie the type of clientele, the quality of the DJ and guaranteed entry (no standing in line in the cold & snow at 11:40pm).
- Make sure everyone you roll with is of like minds. The only damper on a couple of the celebrations over the last few years was the one whiny git who had to find fault in everyone’s good times.

This post more made me want to actually DO something for NYE rather than not. Seeing THAT level of fuckery would be pretty entertaining. Church? Netflix? Snore.

I sit up, have a beer or two, watch Dick Clark slur at the screen, and see Ryan Seacrest be a douchebag. Once the balls drop, er, ball drops, I fire two shots out the window, kiss my daughter, and go to bed.

Okay, a few of those things I don’t do. But I ain’t saying which parts.

Ah, the memories of youth. That pretty much sums up how it used to be, but now I’d rather stay indoors. Personally it usually ends up being more hassle than it’s worth these days, so I see in the New Year, but from the comforts of home.
